Zoe the Cat

Jason and I have loved having a cat this summer! Zoe is the Gutke's darling ragdoll cat, and she likes to hang out in our room all evening. You might find her... Sprawled out flat on her back taking a nap,
Inside my lugguge,
Inside Jason's lugguge,Or when she's had enough attention, she sits on her thrown where no one can bother her.

What a funny cat!

Maternity Pictures

I found this floral print in a home decor store, most likely intended for a couch, but I immediately had the idea of doing some old-fashioned maternity photo shoot with it. Why not, when I had the time to make the dress, and I knew an excellent photographer. All praise goes to my sister in law, Kati, for doing this pictures! More on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?aid=2325819&id=17803805

Thank you again Kati!! I just had to get these in before I got the chubby face, fat arms, and swollen ankles. Its coming any day now. These were more to celebrate the state of enjoying pregnancy, instead of the 'look how big I got' collection, because those are coming. Oh how I love photo shoots, and how very excited I am to have a picture subject soon! Oh little baby, you have no idea the plans I have for you...

Bags for Sale!

One project that has kept me entertained here has been making hoop purses out of fabric scraps. Do you recognize some of these prints, mom? :)
I found the hoops at a closing craft store for $.30/each, so the cost to me was minimal, and I'm just so glad to put some scraps to good use.

One of my favorite parts was naming these bags after all my friends and family! (Sorry Janae, don't be offended that I named the spacey alien one after you--its only because they're lime green aliens :)

These are all for sale on my previously abandoned Etsy website: www.dearmistergable.etsy.com Spread the word!

Pass!

The results are in...Jason passed the dreaded CFA! We don't know his score because they only give you a 'pass' or 'fail', but typically only 30% of CFA test takers pass, and its wonderful to show on a resume that you passed the first time.
Jason scored greater than 70% on 7 of the 10 sections, which is great! Hurray hurray hurray! (Plus we get $500 of the cost back from BYU for passing!) Good job darling!

Millar Reunion

Then we got together with Jason's side of the family! We went to the Hogle zoo, reserved a movie and game room at Noah's for an afternoon, went on a hike, had picnics, went to the Gateway for museums and shopping, had church up in the canyon, and took some great family pictures (also to come)! The Millar siblings--Diana, Brett, Carla, Jason, KatiPing pong at Noah's

We love vacations and family reunions! 3 weeks of it was just about right, and we all came home exhausted. Now we're back in Houston for a few more weeks while Jason finishes up the internship. I'm heading back to Provo mid-August to move apartments: Our landlady is in fact, not kicking us out of our apartment because we're having a baby, and actually invited us to the upstairs apartment, which is quite an upgrade. I can't wait to show you all pictures--I'm so excited to have windows!!

Hancock Reunion

We checked out of Aspen Grove, and tried out "Jump On It"--a huge gym of trampolines! My favorite part was when the twins ran up to us and exclaimed, "Mom, this is AWESOME!!!"Then we drove up to North Ogden for my grandparents' 50 Anniversary celebration!Seeing both of my grandmothers displaying their wedding dress at their 50th makes me want to keep mine instead of cutting it up for baby blessing dresses. My grandma (Lynnnette--my middle name) dressed so cute! I couldn't get enough of her adorable outfits in pictures. Then we drove up to Bear Lake! We had a beautiful 12-room lodge for the big reunion called Beaver Creek Lodge. The Hancock grandkids in order, minus 3 missionaries and Travis. (I love being the oldest grandchild on this side--our baby will be the first great-grandchild!)

Aspen Grove

Our 3 weeks of vacation started with a week of Aspen Grove with my family! This was the 4th year I've been up with my family, so it was fun being able to show Jason around this time. We love Aspen Grove!
Trying out fishing one morning. Don't I look like a natural? Haha Hiking up to Timp Falls
The week was full of tournaments against other people at the camp that week. The boys tried out raquetball, ping pong, badminton, etc. and got well into the finals. Mom and I were quickly eliminated in our doubles ping-pong competition.
Travis & Jason did great in horseshoes! The food was of course, wonderful.
We tried out the pottery one morning! This was right after my lovely vase flung off the wheel, boo. Jason made an awesome goblet/cup.
Aspen Follies!
And the ropes course!
What a great week it was!

Back in Utah

We've been busy for the last few weeks, vacationing in Utah! Is it still a vacation if you go back to where you just came from? LOTS of pictures to come of hanging out with my family, Aspen Grove, my grandparents' 50th anniversary, and Bear Lake. And this morning begins the Millar reunion! Everything stacked up so nicely, its as if everyone planned with just us in mind. Last night Jason and I had an open evening between events, so we made a date night. Anyone heard of these "Starving Student" cards? They cost about $20 and are full of coupons to use throughout the Utah Valley, from free hair cuts, to show tickets, to golfing ranges. Because of a mistake on their part, we got 2 in the mail, and have loved using them up all year. Last night we went to a Mexican cafe for free "tacos al pastor", then to Burgers supreme for 2 free medium fries, then to Taco Time for 2 free orders of crustos. Not nutritious at all, but 3-course dates for the cost of the gas to get there is just my style.
