Dish Man

Back when we were engaged, we were talking about things you're supposed to talk about, like how are we going to budget, how many kids we're going to have, and how are we going to handle things like taking the trash out, the food shopping, the meal-making, and the dishes. Then it was JASON who came up with this compromise that I think was the best deal I have ever made: I would do all the cooking and Jason would do all the dishes! What a compromise, right?! But this isn't just rinsing and throwing things into the dishwasher, because of course, our basement was remodled into an apartment in the 20's, hence the original sink and bathtub and plumbing: no dishwasher. So it makes him even more of a hero.
I love you, I love you, Dish Man!

Barf

I was upstairs this morning after getting my mail out of the teachers lounge when some students ran up to me exclaiming about a how a kid just threw up all over the hallway downstairs. I KNEW it would be right in front of my door. Of course, it was. It was seriously like 4 feet long. I also knew that if I had to smell it or see it up close, I would throw up myself, so I made it to the teacher next door and begged to go through her room. And then I stayed inside my classroom the entire day. No bathroom breaks, no water refills, no hallway monitoring. Yuck yuck yuck. Sick sick sick. (For good reason, no pictures today)

Scripture Bag

I always seem to take plenty more than just scriptures to church--I need my manual, or the Ensign, or my agenda to write in what night is Cooking Club, or a baggie of fruit loops, right? I also hated having to unzip and zip and unzip and zip every hour. My weaksauce leather scripture case just wasn't cutting it. So I made this one to be able to fit everything, and still not look like a beach bag, so I kept the rectangular shape, and put some tough composition book board between the layers to give it structure. Does it surprise you that there's ribbon and polka dots all over it? And part of me still wants to add a bright canary yellow bow to it. I can't help it.

I actually took this to a boutique along with several other things I could make and sell there, and this was the item they liked the most. I'd be tempted to mass produce them for this boutique if they didn't want to charge 20% AND $100/month just to sell there. Lame.

UACTE

I was at a conference for all the Utah CTE teachers (Home-Ec, keyboarding, Health Science, and shop) in St. George this weekend. They gave us a nice charter bus and a lovely hotel, and we went to lots of great classes! I mostly enjoyed talking with a bunch of my friends from byu and student teaching. Since there 11 of us in our graduating class of Family & Consumer Sciences Education, we got really close. Its sure fun to talk about where everyone is now, what they're teaching, how we're all loving our 2nd year SO much more than our 1st.

And Now, a Blog About Jason

I promise I have a husband, and that we live together. I just can't seem to get him in any pictures recently. Except for this one, as I'm making him try on the men's clothing I'm working on. (This one is for the pirate wedding. We had to make sure the colors are ok with the bride. More to come). My female mannequins just aren't substantial, and he makes such a good model.
Jason continues to be the most charming husband! I love him more everyday and he treats me so well. Since we were in Idaho for the weekend of a crazy week, we moved V-day to today. Jason sent me flowers to my 1st period class (I LOVE when he does that!), then another rose when he got home, then gave me a darling Build-a-Bear for when we're apart! Isn't he cute?! I can't decide if my favorite feature is him holding a bouquet of roses, or that his skinny tie is silky on the back. Just in time, because I leave in the morning for a 2-day UACTE Conference in St. George, and now I can still have a cuddle buddy. My favorite part of the flowers: I guess the florist got confused and wrote, "Love, Josh", but it totally looks like Jason's handwriting. Josh, who's Josh?

Carrot Soup

Maybe this doesn't even look good to you, but I thought it was scrumptious. I sauted some garlic and onions in butter, then cubed a whole bag of raw carrots and one potato and threw them in with some water and chicken bullion. After 15-20 min., I food processed the mixture, dumped it back in the skillet and added some cream, pepper, and parsley. Super easy, and it was maybe one of my favorite soups so far! You should try it and tell me what you think.

iLoves

Though we wish we could give everyone iPods for Valentine's day, we gave out iLoves instead!
We had a lovely weekend in Idaho with Mom, Marc & Diana! We watched Olympics, went to a chocolate dipping class at Prepared Pantry, ate delicious food, took a trip up to Porters (I've heard wonderful things about this craft store, and I did find some treasures), and enjoyed TWO holidays! Thanks for the weekend Mom!

Time for a Mini Van!!

With our growing family, we thought it was time to move straight to a larger vehicle!
Here she is:

Just kidding, no baby on the way to our knowledge :( but I do get to drive this super awesome free rental while Schroeder is in the shop for new brakes. The rental man asked, "Did they tell you what we have for you?" and I said, "Is it a mini-van?!", and he gave a suprised, "Actually yes!"

Valentine Loofahs

Isn't that what they look like? Giant loofahs! I love it. I got the idea off of The Idea Room: http://theidearoom.blogspot.com/2010/01/felt-heart-wreath.html and with my mom in town for a few days, we sat around watching girly movies, eating deviled eggs, and crafting! Thanks for all your help, Mom!

(Jason keeps hitting his head on them as he walks by :) Oh how fun it is living in a basement)

Don't Be Sad, Be Plaid

One of my favorite things to do is re-make thrift store finds. I found this skirt at DI for $4, but I really bought it for the petticoat slip that came underneath it. I tore that out, and was left with this:
Kindof prairie-frumpy, yes? Well, I ripped out the skinny waistband but kept in the zipper, cut it short, added another layer underneath, hemmed it up, then added some buttons onto a new thicker waistband.
And look at Jason's photography skills with our new camera! We LOVE it!

Punxatawny

Happy Groundhog's Day! Of all our holidays, this one might just be the silliest. Still, I get so very excited to watch the news every Feb. 2 morning! However, all I have to say is this year is "boooooooooo" on more winter. Booooooooooo.

Survey thingy

Hey, Millar blog followers. I'm in a marketing class at BYU and my group and I are conducting a survey about restaurant preferences. If you could be so kind as to take our survey, it would be greatly appreciated. It'll take between 5-10 minutes and no more. It's fairly straight forward and easy. Thanks all yall! http://qtrial.qualtrics.com/SE?SID=SV_72mQWALG82d1X5a&SVID=Prod
