So once upon a time, I had this crazy idea that I wanted to take a perfectly nice table, sand it down, draw all over it, woodburn it, paint it white, then paint it black, and then paint it all different colors. And Jason thought I was crazy, naturally. But I did it anyways.
AHHH carpal tunnel!! My wrists, my aching wrists.
I taped off the sides, and put down a white primer, then proceeded to do a base black, getting the crevices really well...
And then got busy painting! Lots and lots of paint; pretty much everything needed two or three coats.I finished it with 3 layers of a polycrylic finish, but I think after the fair, I'll do 2 or 3 more. I just don't want to be picking out food crumbs that get stuck in the niches.
Whew! Fun summer project. Off to the county fair in the morning!
I'm gonna win that $3 first prize!

You can hardly recognize it anymore :) You are very talented, Camille. Is there anything you don't do?
I know I already commented on Facebook, honestly, Camille! This is incredible! You never cease to amaze me. :-)
This is amazing! I LOVE it!
Wow, what a neat project.

Wow! That is pretty amazing! Did you leave the sides plain so you can add your children in?
Thanks Carla! No, the kids go on the stars. I left the sides unpainted so that when the table is too small for the whole family to sit at, I'll slice off the sides, add short legs, and make it a family room coffee table.
That is so cute! I want one!
That is so cool! It would be fun to do something like that to a kid's dresser or desk in their room someday too.
Oh my GOSH! Camille this is amazing! You're attention to detail is fantastic :D Totally worth a a pin on pinterest for sure!
