Queen Bee & Prom King

I only wanted to spend $5 on fabric and one hour of my time, so this is what I came up with. Don't look closely, its somewhat poorly put together. Working in a costume shop proved useful when putting together Jason's ensemble!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The Big Apple

So, it's true, this semester I've been super busy. It's probably been my busiest semester so far. It's been super great, and super interesting, and I really like my major. I'm doing my Junior core taking Corporate financial reporting, Financial management, Investments, and Money Banking and Business. They are all extremely interesting. One of my teachers in the first couple days of class told us about a trip the Capital Markets Club takes to New York every year. Me at Grand Central Station I decided I wanted to jump on that boat and go to the New York and learn more about my degree and the things I could actually do with it. I flew out last Tuesday afternoon and arrived late at Laguardia airport. We took a taxi to our Super 8 motel across the river in Queens. Wednesday morning we took the subway to Grand Central Station. It was pretty sweet. There were heavily armed Police staking out the main area with assault rifles. In Connecticut we met with a lot of companies, mostly smaller in size. Some of the things that they did were private equity, private wealth, large cap investments for mutual funds, hedge funds, and fixed income investments. Very interesting, but meeting with companies from 9 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon really makes you tired, especially after going to bed late and waking up early. So we woke up and did it all again the next day, but this time in down town Manhattan. Manhattan at night from our hotel room Most of our activity was at Cerberus, one of the largest private equity firms in the U.S. One funny thing about Cerberus, is that Cerberus is the name of the three-headed dog that guards the gates to Hades in Greek mythology. He makes sure that those that are in Hades across the River Styx can't escape. What does that say about New York? Go figure. The New York Stock Exchange Thursday and Friday were about the same. We met with all of these companies, ranging from small management groups to large companies like JP Morgan Chase, Goldman sachs, Credit Suisse, and Oppenheimer. Most of the time, it was BYU alumni that had made their way to Wall Street giving these presentations. We usually had two groups going at the same time, so I didn't meet with all the companies, somehow I still managed to hear 25 presentations given. The last night we went to some hole in the wall Indian restaurant that dining area had enough room for 3 small tables, and was half the size of our kitchen, but it was super good. Good idea by our Nepalese roommate staying with us. Then we spent some time at Times Square, but all in all, we didn't really have much time to do many recreational things. Camille and I will just have to go back someday. She loves New York. Me at Times Square

Why Jason Never Blogs Anymore

That darn Junior core has stolen my husband from me.

An Oldie

I was going through pictures and realized that I forgot to post these pictures from back in late August from "Celebrity" semi-finals at the Scera karaoke contest! Jason wasn't there for me to sing to (it was closing night of "Joseph", which started in about 15 min. at this point), so I didn't win, obviously :) Like many of my sew-the-night-before-and-wear-once dresses, this outfit will also soon be on sale on dearmistergable.etsy.com

Dress Up

I got to put on my favorite dress again tonight and help out with a fundraiser. Good times in that dress. Jason comes home tomorrow! Its been so long. I hardly remember what he looks like. Ok, that's not true.

Baby Come Back

Jason left me yesterday morning until Saturday night for New York City. How rude! He went with the BYU Capital Markets Club and is doing some networking/businessing/maybe-interviewing with over 30 companies. I sent him with the camera, so I'll pressure him into writing all about it when he gets home. I also packed his angry eyes, just in case.

In the meantime, I'm actually getting a lot done around here. I tried a few chocolate caramel apples and chocolate pretzels to give as Halloween gifts, and I'm working on sewing a Captain Hook outfit for my friend, Bill. Gotta hurry, only 9 more days!!

Twilight Revisited

I finally finished the Twilight series! (Only 6 months behind the rest of the world) I really enjoyed it! Again, I'm not much a reader, so I was surprised how intrigued I was with it. Throughout the series, I kept thinking about how romantic everyone (including myself) finds it that Bella & Edward will be together forever in the endless state of having beauty, power, and immortality, and I could smugly smile and think, "Ya, me & Jason will have all that too" :) What a beautiful thing, as a member of our Church, to know with certainty that if we live this life to our utmost, in a sense, we will live this life of trials and weak bodies and fears, inevitably experience death, but then go through a process of refining and changing, until we are beautiful and powerful, and we have our eternal companion FOREVER!! I guess I hadn't thought about the beauty of being with someone you love for eternity until I read about it from a ficticious character's personal account! Perhaps Stephanie Meyers was alluding to this celestial marriage thing all along, or maybe I just like sucking out religious meaning from every experience, even a fantasy novel. Needless to say, you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll be seeing "New Moon" the night it comes out, even if it is on our one-year anniversay while we vacation in St. George :)

Sew Busy

My, sewing has been a busy (and lucrative) hobby lately! I sold another $45 dress on Etsy.com this afternoon! Once I sell off all these extra things I've had in my closet, I'm excited to start doing custom dresses. For now, I'm working on 3 bridesmaids dresses for a friend, and a Prom dress for Jamie Beck!! I also got a 2nd job, seamstressing for the Scera theater, and I'm absolutely loving it. What a joy to be creative with what seems like an endless supply of beautiful fabric, creating beautiful things, that get to be showcased in front of thousands of people! The past few weeks we've been working on "Into the Woods", which openned today. It always makes for a hectic week, working with a very particular but brilliant designer, especially when it comes down to franticly sewing on buttons just minutes before the show opens. I just love the theater atmosphere! Here's some of the costumes I helped put together:
Rapunzel's Prince Cinderella's Prince
Jack
The Baker
The Baker's Wife

Its Just What I Always Wanted

OMGosh my serger is a dream come true!! Isn't it beautiful? Don't I have an amazing husband? Complete with ice cream, a dozen yellow roses, and calls from home, it was surely a lovely birthday.

Green Means Go

We had a little Noteworthy alumni get-together/newbie picnic yesterday. So many life-long friends made in that group! We were going around telling stories, and I mentioned how some weeks, especially in December, we had 3 or 4 gigs a week, plus rehearsals, and we should have been sick of eachother, but when we would randomly have a Friday night off, we still would have sleepovers, because all we wanted to do was be with eachother. It was pretty much a sorority.
The best part of yesterday: singing our New York set from 2 years ago.
Some things you never forget.
And our newest CD is out! I'm singing the first song "Unwritten"! You can purchase online at http://www.noteworthyladies.com/, or hold off, because you might just be getting one from me for Christmas!

Take 6 and the Monsons

We met up with the Monson family to see "Take Six" last night! They show was super, and the company was even better! Natalie is darling, and baby Josh is the cutest!

The Difference Between Boys & Girls

I couldn't resist capturing the typical table settings I saw on Caramel Popcorn Day.

Shingles anyone?

So I thought this bug bite on my back was kindof random, till it got bigger and more itchy. It kept getting worse, and when it started showing up on my stomach, I figured this wasn't normal. Turns out its "shingles". Random, huh? Well, its absolutely killing me today! I can't think of anything except the pin-pricking enflamed nerves all along my back and stomach!! AHHH! They say it was probably stress related, so time to cut out some stress, huh?! No more planning camping trips for me :)

That's Intense--Kinda Like Camping

As the Ward Chairmen, me & Jason were in charge of the Annual Camp-Out last weekend! For a girl who's not so keen on the idea of camping in the first place, pulling together supplies and food for roughly 50 people was kindof freaking me out. But it all turned out to be pretty fun!
We slept like princesses--egg crate foams on top of an air mattress. Pretty darn comfortable.

Joseph, Joseph, Is It Really You

We had a lot of fun with this show :) Jason is so good with kids.Primary "sharing time" Which one is my husband??! I could never tell from behind.
Sold to the Ishmaelites (Cirque du Soleil) Hoedown!
Joseph and Potipher's Wife, booooo.I really had a dream the other night that the director told me he needed me to be a 'guard' for the last 3 shows. Weird. Interpreting the butcher & the baker's dreams.
(This made for a comical 2nd act, when the baker is dead, and the doll is still alive)
Go-Go Time!
The cute Richardson girls!Tango, tango, tango. Since I've started working at the costume shop, I got to sew almost all these tango dresses! Grovel, grovel. The Bachelorette Party
Me and the "dream doctor".
Yuck, I hated this scene. Mostly b/c I couldn't be in it (I was changing for the tango).
Notice how I'm pushing away Kalli next to me :)
"Stay away, he's mine" And I still got to steal a kiss in every night, as a raving fan. Those shoes. The End.
10 Min. mega-mix!!
Superstar.
