Birth Announcement!

The day after we brought Lincoln home, mom and I set up a little photo shoot in our living room! We made sure he was well fed and set up space heaters so he'd be cozy. Thanks for being so compliant, little one!

Its been so fun getting to know Lincoln! A little more about the little guy:

• He always has to have his hands up by his face (in fact he came out with hand on his face, thanks kid :)
• The poor boy gets hiccups just as much outside the womb as he did inside--atleast once a day lately. The worst is when I finally get him to sleep, then his hiccups wake him up again.
• He loves his swing and calms down to almost any kind of music I play
• He loves car rides and stroller rides!
• He is the noisiest sleeper. I can't keep the bassinet in our bedroom because of his sighs and moans and grunts all night.
• When you sit and have a conversation with him, he pulls out some great facial expressions and great big wide eyes
• He's so loveable!! I want him to stay this small forever!

Getting to Know You

Little Lincoln sure is our pride and joy! He performs so well for visitors, is eating like a champ, and never spits up. He seemed to actually enjoy his bath yesterday, is sleeping longer every night, and we even made it to church today! He fills our house with so much happiness! I'm sure its the crazy hormones, but I find myself in tears constantly just thinking about how perfect he is and happy I am that he's here!(This is the outfit my brother Travis wore home from the hospital 22 years ago)Grandma MillarMy Hancock grandparents, who are now Great-Grandparents!

Baby Lincoln

It's really happened! Baby Lincoln Clay Millar arrived today at 4:35 p.m. As you can see from the picture, he's 8 pounds 10 ounces, 20 inches long. He's a happy healthy baby boy! Lots of hair. The labor went super well. We were called in this morning at about 6:30 a.m., Camille was put on Pitocin at about 7:00, and water was broke at about 9:00. She was a superstar. She did do an epidural which worked well, but felt quite a bit of pressure at the end. After pushing for an hour and fifteen minutes, Lincoln came into this world screaming and crying with a quivering lip.I got to cut the cord, Hah!After that, he was cleaned up and weighed. Then I wheeled him down to Mother Baby, where they gave him a full on bath and gave him his first outfit. After that Lincoln and I had about a half hour of uninterrupted one on one bonding time on a rocking chair, while Camille got cleaned up and took a short nap. It was fun seeing him calm down and take his first nap in this world. We're so excited to be parents. I always thought it was so cliche how new parents talk about how spiritual the experience it was, but now that I've been through it, I feel like I had the most spiritual experience of my life today. So...Camille is now in the hospital, in labor, water broken, and baby is expected this afternoon. Life is good. Here's Camille! Isn't she a cute lady in labor! Stay tuned!

The Job Hunt

Jason's been interviewing up a storm these last two weeks! Tis the season. He's been asked to interview with every application he's submitted this semester, which is awesome! Some companies he's interviewed with include: Malaluca, Brandis, Piper Jaffray, Merrill Lynch, Duff & Phelps, etc. Please may one of these work out. And may the next big interview not be scheduled while I'm in labor. I keep telling him to stay 3 days ahead of his schoolwork and studying just in case. He's very good at answering my calls when he's on campus lately :)

38 weeks

Will this be the last maternity picture Jason has to take? Will the next post be introducing our newest family member? Who knows! We certainly don't. We were almost sure he was coming Saturday night because my contractions were about a minute long and 2-3 min. apart for several hours. So we grabbed our bags and headed to the hospital. Alas, I was only 2, so they gave me a shot of morphine and sent us home. Lame. The contractions were killing me, but apparently I need to wait until they are REALLY killing me to come in again. My doctor says if I'm a 3 by Friday, she'll induce me on Monday! If not, she's leaving town till the 19th, and we're on our own. So stay tuned until Friday! However, I did have this vivid dream that he was born this Thursday...

My 6 lb. 4 oz.-er

Yesterday was my 36 weeks appt., and I measured a whopping 42 cm (meaning 42 weeks large). Incredible. I've been measuring big at every appt., but 6 weeks ahead of schedule?! My doctor wasn't entirely sure if he was breech or not b/c his "head" was feeling a little too squishy/soft to be his head, so I got another ultrasound today! What a treat to get to see him again!

(37 weeks)

Well, he's actually measuring exactly where he should be, and is already 6 lb. 4 oz.!! So with four more weeks to go, I can just plan on him being around 8 lb. 4 oz. Ok, I can do this. She didn't see much hair, if any, which is fine :) I like bald babies. He still looks healthy and happy, and to me it looks like he has some big cheeks :) The better to pinch him with. Oh, and he's definitely head down! Things are lookin good!

The Little Dears

There are a couple cute little elementary school boys that live across the street from us. I guess they needed a good target for throwing dirt clots, and I'm sure they have nothing against Jason, but we had quite a chuckle out of what they did to his car :)

I'm a Cheapskate

And I just can't bear to buy something when I could make it myself. It doesn't necessarily turn out better or much cheaper, but I just love having projects, even if they only save me a few dollars. Observe:

A $3 mattress pad found at DI, $4.50 in blue and white vinyl, and left-over cording intended to go on a dress in high school.Into a covered diaper changing pad! Sitting on top of a $15 cupboard/tv stand also from DI! After years of changing babies on tables too tall, I was determined to find something short enough, so that when they stand up, I can actually reach them to get dressed. Look how well it coordinates with the diaper champ! A used car seat from my Aunt Amy (THANK YOU!!) and $10 in fabric and buttons.Into a car seat canopy cover! I made the straps so that it can also be worn with an additional piece as a nursing blanket. And look at that, its all wrinkled, sorry. I had to keep telling myself, "Don't make it feminine, don't make it girly, he's a boy! No bows!" Status on us: we're doing great! We both got our flu shot yesterday (2 for 1 special), and we love going to water aerobics 4x/week. I'm at 35 weeks, but measured 39 weeks big yesterday!! My doctor says he still looks and feels like a little 5 pound baby right now, its just that I'm carrying him straight out there. He's been head down for the past 2 appointments, and I've gained a total of 19 pounds with him! So I'm allowed to gain 6 more in the next 5 weeks, yessss.

Oh Happy Day

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes! I even got a birthday card from my son! Yup, just a half gallon of ice cream with candles is totally my ideal birthday cake! Thanks Jason for making it wonderful!

Maternity Make-overs

Its really incredible that my mom just finished having children 7 years ago. When I was visiting during Spring Break, she let me rummage through a couple boxes of her maternity clothes. I picked out a few things I figured I could update a little: Before

All I did with this one was take in the sleeves so they weren't so flowy and gaping, and ruche up the sides with elastic. 

With the black dress, I took off the ribbon bow, cut the sleeves shorter, added elastic, and added a sash!

My mom wearing this one 23 years ago, holding me!With the plaid, I took off the neck tie and added it to the waist, finished the v-neckline, took off the red on the arms and pleated the new shorter sleeves.

Maybe these all still scream 80s to you, but I love them! Thanks mom!

Yes!

You all know the story, it happened 2 years ago today, most of you were there, and apparently its been told a hundred times. I still run into people who exclaim, "That was YOU?!" when they hear our proposal story :) Good work, Jason. So he asked me out for this weekend to celebrate; he drove the car around to the front door, and rang the doorbell to pick me up. We had a perfect 'dinner and a movie' date, and a cute doorstep scene. I let him come in even though it was getting close to curfew. I'm so excited to spend forever with him!
