This summer a friend emailed me about doing her sister's wedding dress for her wedding in a month! I told her I was in Houston, and she said great, her sister was in San Antonio for the summer. After talking with the bride, we figured that because we both had visits to Utah coming up, we needed to get this dress done in a week! Here's the picture she sent me of what she wanted:

Sister's Retreat
Every so often, my aunts get together for this "Sister's Retreat", with no husbands or kids for a few days, and they sit around and talk and do crafts and eat great food. This summer, they invited the nieces to come along! I told Jason, "this is a big deal to be invited!" And of course, it was so fun. We did facials, made earrings, painted toe nails, watched movies, talked about who should marry who, and ate incredible food, (thanks Aunt Jenni for being the cook extraordinaire!) yet I managed to not gain a single pound in the last 2 1/2 weeks. Really?? I ate twice as much as everyone there!
Aunt Tami didn't get the memo about wearing blue.

Looking for Couples Housing?
We've moved upstairs (and I can't wait to show you new pictures!) in this adorable house south of campus, Provo, and now the basement apartment is open to rent! Come be neighbors with us! Spacious 2-bedroom for $600/month, no utilities cost, lots of shelf space, seven curtained windows, huge kitchen, an adorable clawfoot tub, and we'll make deal to share our internet and washer/dryer. The landlady would prefer it be for a couple without children, and prefer someone who can sign a year-long contract. I can give you a tour anytime!!

Education Week
Oh how I've been enjoying Education Week! This was the first year I could really go, seeing as the last 2 years I was already teaching the new school year by now. Its been such a treat to be back on my campus! Sitting in the classes and learning for pure enjoyment has made me really appreciate the education I did get at BYU, and appreciate being done with some ridiculous classes, especially as I sat in the same rooms I had Organic Chemistry and Nutrition. Sick. How fun to go to so many parenting and mothering classes, among some random ones like "Building Your Classical Music Library" and one of today's classes "A Positive Look at the Latter-day Saint Concept of Hell". I also think that my mother would make a most excellent speaker! Keep applying, Mom, you'd do great, and I'd go to all your classes!

Mrs. Costume Designer
Super cool opportunity: I was asked yesterday to be the paid Costume Designer for Center Stage Youth Performers (CSYP.org) production of Beauty & the Beast! This is a prestigious theater where the students have rigorous auditions to get in, and pay tuition to be members in the program. I would be working with the director to design and produce all of the creative costumes. Ahh, how fun would that be?! Especially since I'm somewhat fond of this musical.
The trouble is that the show starts rehearsing in January, and goes up in April. Oh, if only we knew if we were going to be in Utah in April! The waiting game is just too fun. We'll see if I actually get to costume the show or not!

We hit the big 3-0 today! He's getting so heavy, and he hasn't even started packing on the pounds yet. Don't I already look full term?

Pirate Wedding Revisited
Remember that pirate outfit I made for this groom getting married on a pirate ship in Vegas this summer?
They got married! Look at this sweet wedding picture! I love it!

Happy Birthday Jason!
The big 24! As tradition, Jason got his cheesecake birthday cake. He's going to request a different type of cheesecake every year for the next 70+ we're together, he tells me. This year was a raspberry brownie cheesecake!
We surprised Jason at work today to take him out to lunch. Look at his HUGE office!
This big room is just screaming for a ficus and some picture frames. And maybe one of those putt-putt greens. But how cool is this: he gets his name on a door sign!

Happy Birthday Lover!
